Pattern Manifesto

“All the world’s a pattern, and all the men and women merely patterns.”

Any attempt to investigate the geometry of life, the structure of the Universe and consciousness, social and ecological systems, inevitably leads us to the idea that everything is based on patterns.

The Neopatternion art community was created at the junction of software engineering, mathematics, art and philosophy. Neopatternion is best viewed as one single artist, as a sort of pattern reflecting our current state of understanding of the world around us, which we investigate through our intellect and feelings.

We were able to develop a conceptual foundation and the corresponding kind of mathematics. We reflected these in a software code allowing us to generate unique patterns and visualizing them through digital processing.

Human consciousness cannot be reduced to digital processing. The presence of ‘qualia’ - a distinctive subjective reality we humans are endowed with, turns investigation of human consciousness, psychology and mind into a fascinating adventure.

Our art group has chosen a tiny region in this Universe of consciousness. The results we were able to produce, some of which we present within the scope of ETH Denver 2021 ArtPrioject.io, will be of interest to experts and the general public alike. Given the unique nature of objects being created, we see them as a perfect match for blockchain and NFT technology.

Surprisingly, as we worked on the concept of our object “Moods 14”, references to the “Utopia 14” novel by Kurt Vonnegut Jr. have surfaced. Back in 1952 he foresaw the merging of technology, phenomena of social life and inner life of human consciousness. All these years people have been pondering over the question whether this brings more benefit or detriment, and so far no final solution has been suggested. We don’t have an answer either. We don’t have a final solution, we can just highlight the subject and show its continuity. And even turn to our advantage - the 14 “Moods” presented to your attention are not just marked with an exquisite beauty and uniqueness but also reflect certain inner human states and types of readers that have been discussed by Kurt Vonnegut Jr.

If you would like to go deeper into the subject, examine the patterns presented by us as a signature style for 14 types of readers and reader clubs. Join the game. Behold “Moods 14” and read “Utopia 14”.

We are delighted to greet you in 2021. People have done a lot to ensure we all find ourselves at this point.
